Crystal Grass

Topic: mystical

I wanted to create a more "Visual poem" than my others may be, so I focused on description, and I hope you'll like it.

Fragile blades of crystal grass,
Decaying skeletons of moments past.
Broken promises, empty words,
Melting mammals, decaying birds.

Haunting echoes across the plain,
Kill the beasts and end their pain.
Break the bones and burn the hair,
Crush it ‘til nothing is there.

Snap the beak, cross out the eyes,
Wear the carcass; a secret disguise.
Make it quick, don’t let them hurt,
Cover the bodies with bloodstained dirt.

Paint their hearts among the stars,
Honour them with painful scars.
Slice through the skin with tarnished nails,
Forever embrace heartbreaking tales.

Feel the poison flow under the skin,
Feel it oozing from within.
Hear a gentle whisper in your ear,
It says to you, “Have no fear,”

“This was your wish, don’t you recall?
To leave this place once and for all.
I’ll make it end if you don’t fight,
I’ll take away your life tonight.

In the crystal grass I’ll lay you down,
I’ll bury you deep within the ground.
If you should wake before you expire,
A kiss goodbye is all I require.”

Just heal the wounded ‘til no longer sore,
And then we’ll part, forever more.
Forget me now, remember not,
Watch as blood spilled begins to clot.

Knock out the teeth, I’ll swallow whole,
I can’t reclaim the breath you stole.
Try to breathe while coughing up,
My blood overflows within your cup.

Take a sip and swallow me deep,
Scream as into your veins I creep.
I’ll make a fort along your spine,
I’ll take you over and make you mine.

I’ll hide behind your pupils, black,
Bore jagged holes into your back.
Infect your blood, constrict your heart,
Inside to out, tear you apart.

Painful tears of blood you’ll cry,
In vain try to comprehend why.
You wouldn’t save the burdened beasts,
Upon their flesh the beetles feast.

They perish, hidden in waxy shadow,
Drown in turquoise pools, so shallow.
Suffocate in puddles, sapphire blue,
Retching up diamonds and pearls too.

Watch as they quiver, spasm and shake,
Be wary as the ground doth quake.
You’ve angered gods, vengeful and cruel,
Thus they crown you the piteous fool.

They know no mercy, only bloodlust,
Turn you to ashes, turn you to dust.
They’ll bury you deep in a forlorn grave,
Punishment for how you misbehave.

The ground pushes up and opens wide,
You cannot run and cannot hide.
This is your end; no less, no more,
Send me a postcard from hell’s door.

You will be missed, surely it’s true,
Though not by the fiends who murdered you.
You tortured them and made them yell,
It would be best to say farewell.

Their hearts up high, you didn’t paint,
You tormented them with no restraint.
You made them hurt and made them ache,
Their tiny souls you chose to break.

Ignored their pained and sorrows screams,
Left them on a rotting field of dreams.
They couldn’t stand the way you tease,
Left open wounds to sting in the breeze.

They’ll stand for the pain not any longer,
You didn’t kill them, only made them stronger.
So now they’re back, embittered with hate,
No longer can you run from your fate.

Stay calm, stay cool, they’ll smell your fears,
They’ll eat you whole and guzzle your tears.
They’ll make you pay; they’ll make you die,
So once and for all, I say… goodbye.

wow, I love your style. What is it about?

I'm nit picking, but I think you need to pay a bit more attention to rhythm, itis not always consistent.

This is poem is mesmerizing in its
struture and imagery. There are
some nice rhyming verses in this
poem as well. I say:
"Drive on!
Drive that motor vehicle
of poems through your
wild road of imagination
and wonder!"
