I Tossed my Textbook ‘Gaist the Nearest Wall

I tossed my textbook ‘gaist the nearest wall,
And derived vivid excitement from the sight of it
Suspended in a way foreign to its shut-up matter –
Hanging there in the air – as I saw it – on flowing writs,
One succeeding the other – exceedingly substantial,
And deliciously instructive.
What need have I!
What need have I, I say, of this outrageous sin, –
Of these execrated expirations of fallen and boiling men, -
When all I need do is effect an immediate and rash divorce from my mistresses of old,
Their beauty having been blasted away by my terrible sincerity,
And then file the dull documents correctly,
(Tossing them ‘gaist the nearest wall shall suffice,)
And then, at long last,
Rage uncharacteristically through the inevitably dawning shining gloom of night,
Through to the amending warmth of a conceptual morn!
Oh! give me life or give me death,
All I ask is one satisfying breath!
To be a prisoner no more, but a guest!

Well this was interesting and different! There are times when I want to throw my textbooks too! LOl . Seriously, it's flowing prose. Cheers! |

To me this sounds like a fun thing to do! And an excellent idea!
This was a very witty, clever write. Well done. |
