For Sale

Contributed by Nazmythian on Friday, 5th November 2004 @ 01:05:17 AM in AEST
Topic: SongLyrics

I met a man down on the corner
Dealing in stolen souls
I asked him where they came from
He said "It's best if you don't know"
When I asked him what my soul was worth
Well, his eyes turned dark and cold
He said
" Its the one thing you take with you
When you go"

I saw a monkey dealin' freedom
In the middle of the road
He was chained to an organ grinder
Talkin to a man with nowhere to go
The man signed all the papers
The monkey put on a show
When the music stopped
The monkey was gone
The man now carried his load

Don't buy what you can't own
Don't own what you can't sell
A lesson learned too late
Will be a lesson learned too well
Listen to these words my friend
Pay attention to this tale
For there are some things in this world
That just shouldn't be for sale

Give me back my money
I don't want this life no more
I bought it from a salesman
Who come a knockin' on my door
He said it won't be sold on TV
I wouldn't find it in any store
He poured all my dreams
Into a jar
And smashed it on the floor

Don't buy what you can't own
Don't own what you can't sell
A lesson learned too late
Will be a lesson learned too well
Listen to these words my friend
Pay attention to this tale
For there are some things in this world
That just shouldn't be for sale

Yeah
There are some things in this world we live
That shouldn't be ~

For sale

Naz,

Very creative piece. What a wonderful imagative mind you have. Also, there appears to be an important message regarding certain things that shouldn't be for sale.

I think those spontaneous creative writes are the best

Keep them coming

Fabulous Nazzy!

Gosh - I have so many questions... what were you eating? were you dining alone? were you home or at a restaurant? (LOL --- yeh.... I'm digging, trying to find that well of inspiration that you tumbled into!)

Clearly, this is a piece that asked you to write. I, for one, am glad you did. And... you did it well, Nazzy -- boy, yeh, you really did!

Loving everything about this - from imagery to flow, from structure to message... everything.

You remind me a bit of Bill Mallonnee...

They were makin available the dreams of the past
for a limited time while the supply lasts
I got in line and I gave the man my cash

Yeah, buyin' fake diamonds
buyin' fools' gold
and I keep em in a sack
shot full o' holes

Something like that.
Good stuff.
Very full write.
Stitch
