Aging

Contributed by hoist1atca on Thursday, 4th November 2004 @ 07:07:41 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Sometimes I wonder who I am as I stand here-
my reflection showing the age upon my face
and eyes that no longer show a youthful man-

I ask should I become more than I am-
or maybe stay the same and accept my life
as I have come to be comfortable with it...

Have I lost myself in the passing of time-
and just became the man that I was meant to be
I have not a clue as to whose face I see...

In time I may understand these things-
but I also see that in time
age will continue and an older man I will be...

So what is an old man to do-
I suppose one must accept his fate
and grow old with grace...

Listen to me. You will do the same thing a younger man does just maybe a bit slower but with more finesse, just like an aged wine. Don't die until you are dead, o.k.?

Some may say that age is a high price to pay for
maturity. But remember age is also subjective.
A 40 year old may seem ancient to a 10 year old,
but to a 70 year old, he is just a spring chicken.

Age is just a number. You're as young as you feel.
Cliche, I know, but oh! so very true!
