The Itch

Contributed by Irish on Thursday, 4th November 2004 @ 02:24:47 PM in AEST
Topic: Suicide

For those I cry,
For those I weep,
For those who've felt,
The itch so deep.

It runs so deep,
Is so hard to reach,
That to actually scratch,
The skin one must breach.

They think all's lost,
All is past and gone,
They think to themselves:
"Why should I go on?"

Whether it itches,
At throat or at wrist,
To those of you I plead,
The temptation resist.

For if you left,
Or lay down to die,
There's at least one person,
That would actually cry.

I've felt the itch,
And for all it's worth,
I know the feeling,
To want to leave this earth.

I beg of you please,
Don't ever go,
For I care for you all,
More than you'll ever know.

If one of you were,
To leave me alone,
I'd scratch that itch,
Down to the bone.

So please remember,
That in spite what you feel,
That if you left me,
I'd never fully heal.

What a good friend you are. Hmmm, quite a depressing position for you as well. I like how you begged them to stay alive for you. Good strategy, because sometimes people don't have any reason left to live for themselves. (as you already said in this magnificent poem) The last stanza was quite powerful and touching. I hope your love and patience will help pull them through the gloom this earth encloses us all in.

I have the itch, and it cant be scratched to my satisfaction. you are the people in my life who i hope are as kind and caring as you. make sure your friends know how much you care (unlike my "friends" who dont say or do anything), make sure they know how you truley care for them, always be with them. good writing.
