Whispers Of Loneliness

Contributed by pixie on Thursday, 4th November 2004 @ 11:41:45 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

The whispers of loneliness,
Sweep across your face & caress,
It touches you deep in your heart,
Slowly making your soul fall apart.

It lingers softly in the air,
Letting you know it’ll always be there,
You can hear it in your soundest sleep,
It falls from your eyes when you weep.

It’s wrapped tightly all around,
Making only the faintest of sounds,
Tickling your soft, perfect skin,
Living inside as you breathe it right in.

It echoes inside your empty soul,
Making your heart feel like a lump of coal,
Never a smile will come upon your face,
A feeling of loneliness is one you can’t erase.

You’re left feeling so small & so cold,
I shouldn’t feel this way at 21 years old,
Whispers surround me they’re all I can hear,
Never do I sleep when I know loneliness is near.

Everyone feels that way sometimes---even at 44 years old. We are all always children inside to some extent. I think that's why God says He is our Father.

We all hear them Pixie ... sometimes even when we surround ourselves with friends and family. I have been "whispered" to often in places where many people were standing right there next to me.

A wonderful write.

After reading this it makes me ponder what is the answer to lonliness? Our state of minds? Culture? etc etc.

You expressed yourself very well and made me think.

Awh...such sad sentiments but none the less beautifully penned. Very well put together & though the topic is a sad one, its a very enjoyable read, how well the feeling of loneliness is conveyed. Beautiful piece of work krissie.

Hope it passes soon,
Corinna
