In the Beginning

Contributed by poet_of_anger on Thursday, 4th November 2004 @ 11:28:51 AM in AEST
Topic: SongLyrics

In the beginning there was peace
In the beginning life was a breeze
A walk in the park, we all got along so nicely
I had many good friends
Of whom I could always depend
Things were nice then, and we all got along so nicely

There were times of pure bliss
There were times I will miss
Memories made, I thought you were my friends
Then came darkness and rain
And shadows of blame
Yet we would still sing, and I thought you were my friends

And then I went away
I'll always remember that day
You asked me to write everyday, my destiny was calling
And I mounted the planes
I erradicated my shame
I wrote you almost everyday, and my destiny was calling

Time went on without a word
I gave you excuses that were absurd
Not wanting to believe, I thought you were my friend
I told others that the letters were on their way
That they would come any day
Then my hopes fell away, and I thought you were my friend

I learned to forget who you were
It made made time go by like a blur
I awoke in my parents arms, I was happy to feel at home
I came back a short time after that
Then the news hit me like a bat
My heart bloodied at your excuses, and I was happy to feel at home

And then news came of my wise friend
Who upon my troubles his ear would lend
To ease my heart of any pain, he was a good friend
I awoke to find a knife
He had planted in my life
It was poisoned with his strife, and he was a good friend

Dreams are shattered
Visions scattered
Hopes are lost and times have changed
We are no longer the same

So now, am I crazy, should I move on, should I leave them all behind
So now, I find I am hated, by those that were friends to me, all of those years
I, I do not know what to do
I wish the answers would come soon
Because all that is happening is killing my dignity, there was so much more to see
We were meant to be friends, friends until the end
Why did you have to stab my heart, wrench it out and leave it on my porch
Let it sit there for two months time, while I was away lost in rhyme
All friendships ties were broken, by you
You never wanted to tell me, the truth
So now I am left, with only memories, memories and fantasies of what might have been
If you had been a friend
