I swear I love this place at night
Bathed in sadness and orange light
Wondering if they chose that color to spite
Casting those who pass in a red, not white
With careful steps, and books in hand
A relaxed pace on man-fused sand
Wondering what they all might say
When my flesh is cold, and lips are grey
An approaching figure sucks in a fiery splendor
Letting off a similar orange, the cigarettes render
Wondering why they possess such a habit
Why their eyes show me a fox, and they a rabbit
Nostrils taste a withered spring divine
The air brings pleasure as breath resigns
Wondering who the coming sun shines for
I know it shines for me -- no more
