Often we think that our life has to many burdens-
And we find that we contemplate the worse in all we see-
For it seems that all we do weighs heavy upon our shoulders-
As we try to beat back the load of pain we find as we travel each day…
Sometimes the things required of us- overwhelm us
And life takes its toll, always trying to get the best of who we are-
For there are impositions that are time consuming and unreasonable-
And the confusion of deciding what is right takes away our willpower…
We find no way to win against the inflictions that are put to us-
As others cause the suffering that we hold in our heart and soul-
Our freedoms to choose that which we desire in life, are taken away-
And we can find no way in which we can win the struggle…
Should we but only be allowed to find somebody to trust-
An individual who can offer understanding and support to us-
One who is willing to become the ally that defends our heart-
Then we have indeed found a true friend to help vanquish our pain…

I have found there to be no people like that left in my world. No one, absolutely no one, can be trusted. So I build a wall and stay behind it, protected. Lonely, but protected and unhurt. Life is safer and more liveable this way.
