Yesterday is forever lost in a sea of time-
Tomorrow is the future held at bay-
Today is linked by both yet fragments of each…
My mind, now clouded by the past-
Looks back into days left long behind-
Yet seeks wisdom in the days to come…
My life, once bright and without variation-
Moves slowly foreword locked in segmented time-
But proceeds endlessly onward in total confusion…
My heart, void of love’s passion and will-
Withers in a storm of icy emotions-
Frozen in yesterday and held at bay by tomorrow…

Life and love take the heart in a clinch and tear it apart piece by piece until there is nothing emotionally left. I suppose it makes it easier but it certainly leaves a big aching void where the heart used to be.
