Virginia Woolf: Lady Poet Killer

A charming pastel village
geometric contrite cottages with impeccable gardens
clad in tightly kempt buttoned up fences
amidst blissful stands of trees
paths laid out with daffodil borders
in good old England they don't shoot at flowers
roofs tarnished with air raids suddenly open
like pink palms
trampled by a soldier's boot
march 1941
after the rain of shells a swastika rises above the horizon
a baby drops his toy
a cook burns her roast
a chain of wild geese tightens around the sky
as they ascend chimneys tangle in the clouds
every minute the world disperses
Virginia goes by
alone like all killers
bribing the river with a stone
moving out from the stream of words
and from plucking neurons
semantic dabbling
from the meandering style she sinks into the utopia of death
Mrs. Woolf that scandal mongering ophelia
killer of lady poets
Ann and Sylvia's grandmother
no lighthouse on the horizon
with a seaweed harness around her neck
and a hundred percent loss of life
she finally looks good
