Falling into Winter

Let down slow.
Like a leaf, falling down
in the blinding snow.
A solitary wish
on a starless sky
with nowhere to hide,
it just hangs there exposed.
Those words and the flow
the emotions let show.
That last good bye.
The cars look the same,
like water in the rain
they look like yours to me.
It is what it has to be.
This future, this life,
this glory, this strife,
these cuts with a knife
through a bleeding heart,
body, mind and soul,
it's beyond my control.
I think about it all the time.
There's no willingness,
no reason or rhyme,
there's no time.
The leaf hits the ground,
with nary a sound,
and gets lost in the snow,
like all that I know,
like all that I've known.
