You Stood

A million lights tonight
can't see me through to pass my time;
I can count no mended ways,
nor can I believe that sleep will find my bed;
These days have been spent,
and a hole in the sky has bled me dry
of an optimism that you wore so thin;
In this small space that I've claimed,
I've dressed myself not to be the same,
but you still stand outside of my window
to rid yourself of that shame;
I cannot become so weary once again

Images of Heathcliff haunted by Catherine's ghost. More deep breaths. Marvelous.
