Never Though Anyone Could Want Me

Contributed by pixie on Sunday, 31st October 2004 @ 12:54:30 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I never thought anyone would want me,
I thought they would hate what they could see,
I felt used & abused by ghosts from my past,
I never thought I’d find anything that would last.

I had given up hope on finding anything good,
Didn’t think someone would love me or they could,
That’s why I have trouble believing you are mine,
As soon as you leave my side I start to pine.

I thought that I was a bad person who didn’t deserve,
To ever fall in love & feel her worth,
I have done so many wrong things in my life,
Put so many others through grief & strife.

I looked in the mirror & hated what stared back,
So on myself I would daily launch an attack,
I had no wanting or reason to stay alive,
So into the bottle of vodka I took a dive.

Who’d want an alcoholic whose head was a mess,
One who knew nothing but of pain & stress,
One with traces of self harm on her skin,
One who had thrown all her self esteem into the bin.

I woke up one day with a friendly face staring,
He held me tight, showed me he was caring,
I started to cry as someone finally did love me,
He told me there was so much beauty inside he could see.
