Not so far from here

It seemed like the ages had come and gone, memories of a distant past nowhere to be seen. The fields whose green grass grew lay forgotten, unseen to. The house whose paint always gleamed like the essence of welcome lay abandoned, youth stripped from every inch of what it used to be. The lake whose water never rippled, not even in the wind, lay dirty and rippling like it never intended to. Even I had changed. Did I expect to stay the same forever or had I just taken my surroundings for granted? Assuming they would still be there when I wasn’t. Had it been that I had not gone so far from here, yet gone further than I had thought?

Nice poem, lots of hard words for me because I'm not englisch or American or whatever, but I understand the poem,
I read it,
I love it,
and I tell it..
Have a nice life,
