Head With Necklace

Contributed by Red_October on Friday, 29th October 2004 @ 02:30:24 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Beguiled stare
She's wrapped in death
Tepid mentions of
taking her last breath
She moans in despair
caked in private thoughts that she's never been wanted here
Her necklace as her only solace
taken from her mother's hand
many years ago in a distant land
And today she's a stranger to herself
all her days paved with sorrow
and memories left on the shelf
Lifeless etchings withdrawn from her heart
written here in an anxious state of mind
the pitter-patter of the past rain
behind her
leaves her
withered and patched and exposed
yet she didn't know
that she was loved
by one
but he's gone
forever, too
So she cuts and bleeds
and leaves us
to forget her, and we do
so willingly
so as not to see
the head that she was
with the necklace
