the brandywine river

Contributed by darkeyedman on Sunday, 17th November 2002 @ 09:30:00 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

He walked head down, hands in his pockets,
Consumed by hurt and lonely despair.
Carp swam by in the brandywine river
And rippled the pitiful man he saw there.
She had just come from her husband’s grave
In dark flowered dress and velvet hat.
looking to the sky for answers,
In the grass by the brandywine river she sat.
Pain can consume, and hope can forsake,
But sometimes tears an introduction make
And love can descend on us like a falling leaf,
Hypnotizing in its dance.
Two people at the low of their life,
Two strangers staring into the abyss.
A leaf fell into the brandywine river
As they fell into a kiss.

I agree it should just be the beginning but I don't have any suggestions for you but so far it is really good.
