I thought I was ready for my first time
But I wasn’t prepared for the pain I would find
Before much had happened, I had him stop
I felt like I had been ripped, from my toes to my top
He decided I wasn’t ready, he decided we’d wait
Even if I wanted to, there was no debate
He didn’t leave me, like a lot of boys would
He didn’t let me pressure myself, like he knew my mind could
He wants to get married, one day when we grow older
At first I wasn’t sure, as many relationships grow colder
I can’t imagine life without him, no matter how old I’ll be
No matter how independent I get, or how many people disagree
