I Sang For You

Contributed by unforgiven on Sunday, 24th October 2004 @ 06:50:50 AM in AEST
Topic: Grief

I used to sing for you,
A way to show emotion,
You would sit silently,
Listening with that smile.

I used to sing for others,
The words were my poem,
Melody was my rhyme,
Conveying my deep thoughts.

I used to sing for myself,
A way to make me happy,
It didn't matter the tune,
Nothing but the song.

I used to sing for everyone,
Now I don't sing at all,
Can't think of any song,
The words never come.

I used to sing before you left,
Now my voice refuses,
I used to sing for you,
But now there's no more song.

Yes, I know the feeling of putting life through your words. I used to sing for another, write for another, and the same thing happened, you just have to try to find something else. Another song.

Oh this just breaks my heart. It is really expertly written and poetry at its best.

When you lose someone it does feel like they took an important part of you with them that you can never get back. Of course, I don't have the answers but in my experience grief changes over time and I hope you find your voice and song again.

I really have high praise for this poem of yours.

Kie

Sad, but true.

However, you must move on. Poetry is better than singing, anyways.
