Father’s don’t talk about war to their sons
They lived it once and try to forget
But the sons need to hear comes the reply
Fathers answer, they would never understand
So maybe, that’s why every generation has fought in one…
Revolutionary War--Eleazer Goodrich great great great grandfather
Francis Faulkner great great great grandfather
War of 1812--------Andrew Hipsher uncle
Civil War-----------George Goodrich great grandfather
Nicholas Steele great great grandfather
Ransom Hipsher POW uncle
Martin Hipsher POW/KIA uncle
Colbert Hipsher uncle
World War I--------George Singleton KIA uncle
World War II-------Richard Pardue father
Vietnam ------------JD Singleton KIA Cousin
(my brother Roger and me)
As a father who has fought in war
The reason I haven’t told my son and grandson’s
Because they never asked.
How can I tell them something I don’t even understand…
