The Gift of You

Contributed by dusty on Thursday, 21st October 2004 @ 10:58:28 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

It happened quite by accident
I didn't really know you yet,
Then, I opened up my eyes one day,
And heard the words you didn't say,
There were no walls or self deception,
Weaknesses uncovered by sensual perception,
The tears you kept hidden I cried for you,
My silence and devotion, I swore to you,
Desperately, I craved your pain,
Silently, you tried to restrain,
But the weight of your sorrow began to break you,
And Into my arms I tried to take you,
Body trembling as you tried to hold on,
Fighting so fiercely just to be strong,
Slowly, you gave up and started to fall,
Closed your eyes, forgetting it all,
I reached out my arms and held you tight,
Told you, in whispers, it would all be alright,
Your arms around me, hot tears on my skin,
You decided to break and at last me in,
And there's no other place that I'd rather be,
Fulfilling you now as you then fulfilled me.
