The Toast Machine

Contributed by puppy_dog_eyes on Thursday, 21st October 2004 @ 03:14:58 PM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

8 in the morning they stir to the call
Congregate like swallows, migrating to breakfast
Drawn like bees to nectar, they hurry to the toast machine
Regimented soldiers now, waiting in line
Armed with bread they stand on parade

Great warring men would succumb to peace
Waiting for their turn to feed the toast machine
The cultural divide is crossed here, we all are one
Our bread may be white, brown, thin or thick
But toast is our purpose, we are united in that

Our gleaming god shows its teeth of fire
Inside we place our offerings, watch them journey on
Eagerly we anticipate the drop to know its done
Unless we need a darker brown
The we hold the line, to do it all again

Life dances to a slower, unaccustomed beat
How many friends will we make today ?
Plates at the ready, knife held high
Amass the troops, rally to the call
Once more to face the mighty toast machine

muhuh. You take the strangest of holidays, you know that?

"Our bread may be white, brown, thin or thick
But toast is our purpose, we are united in that"

Observation is Liberation. Thanks for the entertainment, PDE.
