Love... Simply Love One Another

Contributed by kidpoet_213 on Thursday, 21st October 2004 @ 02:00:07 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

You know...
I have seen love... genuine love... shown here today
Because someone cared enough... to go out of their way
To let others know of a life... about to unfold... with a tip of a knife
A life that was thought to be in a crisis
Someone had the decency to stand up and let another's story be told...
Despite the pain that they themselves are going through
They cared enough about someone else... someone besides themselves

The flip side to this... is another sad... sad story... though
How it turned into a war of words
Over a simple concern
It became... in a sense... a politician's platform
Full of hot air and complete with mudslinging galore

I saw no evidence of love... no compassion in the words shown
From those who responded to the need
Just empty... idle... hollow words were thrown about... you see
Tossed to and fro... as if the life that was a concern... didn't matter anymore
And people wonder... why this old world... is the way it is...
And it's these same people who sit in their fine homes... drive their fancy cars... and claim to be professionals...
God fearing Christians... they proclaim!
Open your blind eyes... people... take a good... long... hard look around
If you can see passed your own noses to the ground?

I'm not saying... I'm a better person... than you
Heaven knows... I'm just a poor... lowly sinner too!
Who has fallen short of God's glory... like all the rest
And come judgement day... like you... will have to pass God's ultimate test
I know... I can go to my Heavenly Father... and ask for His forgiveness
And share the simple love with others that He has so freely given

It's a compassionate... unconditional love...
Deeply rooted inside of me...
Somewhere... deep within my heart
For all those that be...
Hurting... bleeding... stumbling... dying... in the darkness of their lives
My one and only wish... my one and only dream
Is to help as many as I can... from the darkness of life... into the warm... golden glow of God's light
And be there by their sides...
When they're afraid to cross that line
Be there to encourage then and offer a shoulder to cry on
In their anguish... pain or rage
Be there to help them be able to turn... another of life's page
In the history book of their lives

Call me a bleeding heart...
Call me what you will...
I am only doing my part...
In God's master plan...
Doing His will
It's how I've been raised...
It's what I've been taught
To share the one item God gave me so freely
To love...
Simply love one another

It's so sad... that everyone can't feel
Love for one another the way God intended
To always show... that life is always worth living...
No matter how far one may get down
'Cause no one life is less important than any other
We are all different... yet one in the same
All bound by our lonely hearts and our hidden shame
Just remember... the life you save... may be your own

To simply share what is buried deep within our hearts
An eternal flame that flickers through all the darkness... the sadness... the pain
Every night and every day
To light our darken... our dreary pathways
All anyone ever needs... is to...
Love... simply love one another

donna, this is excellent, i totally agree with you, {and know what you talking about that went on}, you should be very proud of this poem, its appauling to me that people can be so heartless, this world has far to many who look down their noses at others then cry poor me, hugs n' love nessa

Wow.... this poem is so beautiful. I, too, wish that all humans can love one another the way God intended.... His love is amazing.

I, too, know which words it was that you were talking about.... it is a sad day.... a truly sad day....
