Love's Hangover

Contributed by pixie on Thursday, 21st October 2004 @ 11:08:19 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Love’s hangover has got me,
Telling me that I can’t be free,
Whispering softly into my ear,
Letting me know it’ll always be near.

It swims around inside my head,
Making me sometimes wish I were dead,
Love’s hangover also know as depression,
How do I get rid of it that’s the question?

To be honest I don’t think I ever will,
As from me it hasn’t yet had its fill,
It strips the flesh from my very bones,
Leaving me naked & feeling all alone.

Do you suffer from this type of pain?
Stopping you from feeling alive again,
Love is painful & it really can hurt,
It kicks you as you lay wounded in the dirt.

I can feel is surging around my veins,
It has got tight hold of my reins,
I want to keep my love without the heartache,
I am a porcelain doll who is about to break.

Yes, I do know! I once wrote a poem called china about myself because I felt like a china doll. One thing I can tell you about depression is that it never does go away completely, but that doesn't mean there's no hope. It can become much less, and the symptoms can become more manageable. Don't give up. With God's grace, you can come to a place where you will find contentment. I know that because I have been there.
