Ravensong Devotees

Contributed by ShadowDaughter on Wednesday, 20th October 2004 @ 07:25:46 PM in AEST
Topic: ambiguous

ravensong, harsh:
macabre romance palpable therein
raptor-seized by evensong devotees, rapturous
o drama- the climax! the music's crescendo!
and at entrance of word into sunblinded world,
eyes, ignite! spectres, awaken!
and come, o easily devoured darkness
(succulent, is't not?) when called.
partake of the word-- whisper it, do:
euphonic, yes?
then feast if you will;
and never ponder, disciples of Melpomene,
the whisper-wonder ever found
in word bereft of like, in sound!
for better "ravensong" breathed soft
than very song of raven--
o cruelest Reality, with audacity to make
your pride and joy, pet sound,
in truth
be but a rasping croak!

(ignore, as well,
insinuating similarities
refusing to dissipate
'twixt ravens and the crows.

just love the word, just scorn the truth
and remain, like your brethren, in rows.)

Awwwww, Nora! I know you know already, hon - that I loved this immediately - revision or no revision. I LOVE that you threw yourself into this style. It was a delight to be there with you as you brought this amazing piece to its conclusion. Your voice, amazing as always, comes across powerfully here.

I'm going to mushy up your comment section - but hon, thanks so much for the A/N. You must know that it was an absolute joy for me to discuss this with you. In the same way that we are drawn to the same poems, that we adore the same lines in a write, that we - feel poetry the same way... I cannot help but love this - because I do understand the passion behind it.

Ever a friend AND a fan,
SNM

this was grrrrrreat (with an Irish accent). I
loved your play on words such as this, "o
easily devoured darkness/(succulent, is't
not?)" Just an enjoyable read all around... and
I don't know what else to say.

I know not how I managed to miss this. Your contribution is welcomed with tremendous applause and justifiable awe. Nora, you write with a conviction and a talent that is beyond measure. I have been lax at keeping up with you and shall not do so again !!!!

Fabulous write ...

Naz ~
