war of words

Contributed by Outdoorsman on Wednesday, 20th October 2004 @ 02:14:36 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

words are bullets sprayed at you and me
the sniper takes aim
when the words hit may we bleed well
the sniper breaks the skin
return words and shoot back when shot upon
the target has joined the war

what a life we live when words can kill...
our opinions
our view
our beliefs
our faith
our personality

a war of words do we all fight
every day and each night
in constant agression
with demeaning suggestion
cutting through communication
and advancing degradation...
to our friends
our families
our enemies
our fellow man
and tragically, to ourselves

Very true, good job. When I hear people say that words are harmless, I get very upset, because I know that words can be even more damaging than physical affliction. Words can have a long lasting effect on a person's psyche, stealing someone's confidence, especially with kids. Kids look up to cool kids and if a cool kid makes fun of you and calls you names, then you will assume that it must be the truth. Very damaging and very hard to change that kid's view of himself if it has been imprinted in a painful way for too long. Where as a dead arm or a black eye will fade and will be forgotten. Words are the new ultimate weapon, because cruel, selfish, sadistic people have learned that you can do much damage with insults, harrassment, lies, and rumors.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
