I am unlucky to be alive
Why did I have to be born here and now?
In the infant stage of human development
Surrounded by primitive beings
Who still only think in Neanderthalian terms
of reward and punishment,
instead of right and wrong
Here and now, intelligence does me no good
It only causes me pain
Knowing what could be our great potential
but unable to express it with anyone
I wish I could live in the future
In a glorious age of wisdom, ethics, and peace
But unfortunately this curse of intellectual power
Has only made me aware of what I will never see
Aware of what I will never be apart of
This curse of intellectual power holds only for me
depression and hopelessness
Life for me here and now is only sorrow
Because what I know is the correct path
is still years beyond human minds
And you won't listen to me, for pleasure is your master
Not truth, not honor, not morals,
not common sense, not even God, only pleasure
You are all slaves to pleasure
It inhibits your logical reasoning
Taking over the chemicals in your brain
The chemicals which you had no control over in the first place
Rewiring your brain cells, forcing your will
Making you lust after more,
oblivious to the consequences
And I am stuck right here in the middle
Unable to stop you
This curse of intellectual power
has made me realize only one thing,
here and now,
I am better off dead

You have expressed some of my frustration. I don't understand why people do things that they do. I wonder if the world is even going to advance seeing as we are killing her in our ignorance and self-gratification spree. No one gives thought to consequences of their actions anymore. It's just a gimme, gimme world. Sorry, I'm rambling. :o} Great write! Peace to you.

You know there's a difference between wisdom and intelligence. I think this poem highlights this adequately. I'm sorry that you are surrounded by backwards people. Try making new friends or moving elsewhere... |

Although I am in awe of your words..I think you need bringing back down to earth a little ..You are genius, yes...but also just a mortal human that can find pleasure and warmth from the stupid ones
Ich bin dumm, aber ich könnte Sie Lachen bilden und Sie warm halten
and how can you be better off dead? all the dead do is rot and smell, and have inactive brains...errr think about it..lol
Still, ego allowed...i think you are wonderfull...and very handsome

Let's just say, that I am not interested in pleasure and I have found very little warmth from any human being, much less the stupid ones. And I am not the only one that feels this way. There was a great mathematician and genius who died about twenty years ago who claimed that the very thought of pleasure made him sick. That's not exactly how I feel, but I feel that pleasure can only corrupt. Or if not corrupt you, then blind you from the horrors of reality, managing only to keep you content, thus disabling your ability to want a better way of life for yourself and for the world, and then you might as well be dead. I feel that I would be better off dead, because I could then get away from all of this. But perhaps, its just that I have not found someone special yet, someone who could bring that warmth of which you speak. But I tell you, Awareness and Powerlessness is a horrible combination, and that is where I currently find myself. Aber vielen Dank für die gütigen Wörter. Ich hoffe irgendwann, dass Sie gut auf Ihrem Wort machen können. |
