More Matter, with Less Art

Stepping through the doorway, out of the darkness,
and I see You.
Emitting a luminesce from St. Michael himself,
Your unwavering beauty strikes me still;
and like a defending bull you never step back.
With sweaty hands and cottonmouth, I
approach you stammering, nervous like a
child caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
Eyes averted, incomprehensive sounds spill
from my mouth as your folded arms and tapping
shoe continue to intimidate my feelings.
Finally, silence, as one mumbled word
catches your ear. As you speak, questioning
me, I feel an uplifting; with new breath
I glance up and, with a gentle finger over
your lips, quiet you. Leaning close,
whispering softly in your ear,
I love you.
