Martyr

Contributed by Merry on Sunday, 17th October 2004 @ 05:56:22 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

leave my conscience at the door
with my sanity
after all your games
confusion seems normal
blind deaf and stupid
my best survival skills
put to the test
bent on destruction
I keep stripping my heart
baring my soul
letting you hurt me
without even trying
to stop you
because I don't know how
leaning toward dreams
that can never come true
listening at keyholes
for anwsers
clues and passwords
jumbled on your lips
lies buzz like bees
while you smile at me
tell me you love me
I begin to suffocate
forget how to pray
how to say I love you too
silence is deafening
no longer defending my stance
sitting in the parlor day after day
how many times have you stabbed me
with your cynical tongue
blood on the carpet
blood on the walls
martyred to marriage
the heavy chain about my neck
just a piece a paper after all
if only I could walk away
if only I knew how....

Yes, vivid, sad, and a place I remember.
