It Was Almost Goodbye

It was almost goodbye,
I just sat there & cried,
I felt like my heart had been torn in two,
As I was about to lose my wonderful you.
As I lay all alone in my bed,
Looking at the pillow where you rest your head,
Tears trickled down my face,
Heart had lost its beat & its pace.
To say I missed you doesn’t even begin,
For us to be apart is more than a sin,
We are made for each other I hold no doubt,
My life would be so empty if you weren’t about.
As we sat there faces so glum,
To each other we couldn’t help but succumb,
A night without you felt like an eternity,
Alone with the heart ache & the uncertainty.
This morning we held each other so tight,
From the darkness into the daylight,
Together is where we truly belong,
As in our souls we share a song.
The fire between us will never die,
Never again I will have to deeply sigh,
You are the holder of my heart’s key,
Together by your side is where I want to be.
