Busy Bees and the Filthy Ground

Contributed by subgenius on Saturday, 16th October 2004 @ 12:48:44 PM in AEST
Topic: drugabuse

“Buzz Buzz Buzz” said the busy Bee.
He hovered around my face and I tried swatting him away
But he refused to leave
He promised me the sweetest honey in the forest if I followed him to his hive
Temptation got the best of me and so into the woods we ventured

“If you let me sting you I’ll give you a drop”
The deal seemed fair so I exposed my arm allowing him to proceed
I cried out in pain as my flesh blistered and burned
“Be a man,” he said, handing me the drop of honey I desired
I consumed it and boy did it taste sweet.

After I swallowed I immediately felt an eruption
The ground shook violently like in a devastating quake.
I had woken the swarm.
They kept stinging me and I kept letting them
Even though the honey was losing its flavor

I became immune to the bee stings
They didn’t hurt me anymore and the honey tasted fowl.
Until they stung my eyes
I was blind and demanded my next drop
I took it but this drop was too sweet

I collapsed to the ground and into the filthy mud
I reached my bleeding hands out for their help
But the bees flew away
They never cared about me in the first place
They left me alone to die

Pretty cool.
Like the use of
the bee and the swarm.
Put to good use.

Great Write. I loved how this was a metaphorical poem with such intensity.
This poem reminds me of myself and some friends who have struggled with heroin. Keep
up the talented and inspiring writes.

You have a talent for impressing me, as well as writing powerful analogies. As for the message - who needs Nancy Reagan?

This should be read by kids who want to be stupid enough to try smack.

This was a deep read and felt the pain and dispair.
