I Wouldn't Make You Stay

Contributed by Nazmythian on Friday, 15th October 2004 @ 12:47:46 PM in AEST
Topic: goodbyepoetry

I wouldn’t let you see my eyes
As we stood face to face
And said goodbye

I didn’t want to let you know
Just how much it hurt
To let you go

I almost broke into a run
Just to stay by your side
Wiped tears from my eyes
As I stood there and cried
And watched you drive
Away

I almost thought I’d make it through
Without breaking down
In front of you

Could you feel the pain
Running deep in my heart
Or the emptiness inside
That nearly tore me apart
Because I wouldn’t make
You stay

I almost broke into a run
Just to stay by your side
Wiped tears from my eyes
As I stood there and cried
And watched you drive
Away

I just couldn’t let you see my eyes
As we stood face to face and said
Goodbye

OMG Naz. I have to say I really liked this, but it seriously made me cry.
Saddness seems to follow me sometimes....

Great poem though. Very emotional.

Wow, Scott. *sigh*

I can absolutely see why you'd opt to post this... it's a terrific piece. It is absolutely rooted in the moment, stuffed full of the emotion of that painful day. I do hope that, after all these years, it feels a bit different when you revisit it now.

Well done... again! Still... um... then... Oh - you know what I mean!

My sweet poet of divine words, why such sad posts lately? Hmmm? I felt this, my gosh did i feel this one. It seemed like you tore me open, and looked inside, rummaged through, found my past loves, and wrote about them. Incredible. Another beautiful 'dig up'. It truly describes my feelings exactly when he left and said "Goodybe, forever..." Simply magnificent. I love this. Encore! always a pleasure to read your submissions. Eternally yours,

Fleur de Sang

Naz,

Ah, your talent dates back quite a ways, even much further then this i'm sure. Another beautiful, but sad poem. You seem to write a lot about heart ache and lost love. Just an observation.

A wonderful write
