Sound of Silence

Sun scorched, silent and unmoved,
None dared, the vast road mocked and laughed.
I heard a voice, it called, unaware i ran,
What was it?
A horse?
There again... gallops, sure, not my legs.
they came rushing, sounds like a mad horse... death blows.
Closer and closer now, as if they were in me.
I shrieked, slowed and panted,
the beats now eased,
as my heartbeats ceased.

Very different. I liked it. I have a question , in the end was death right? When the heartbeats ceased? |
