Late One Night

LATE ONE NIGHT

It was late one night
I was up all alone
the party was over
the guys had gone home

The candles had melted
all over the floor
the beer was gone
why stay up anymore

My eyes were so tired
I could hardly see
just kept on staring
at the t.v. screen

Felt a lump in my throat
and opened my eyes
ran to the bathroom
and slipped inside

woke the old lady
god I shouldn't have done that
I could hear her screaming
where the hell are you at?

knew she was mad
and this ***** me off
who ever told her
that she was the boss

just because i told her
before she went to bed
that i'd be right in
but stayed up instead

But baby I said
what was i suppose to do
you know I could never keep a promise
that i made to you

it would make me look stupid
in front of the guys
and she knew I was a liar
from the look in my eyes

Now don't get mad
I said to her
even though my speech
had started to slur

I know I promised
I was coming to bed
but the guys brought beer
so I stayed up instead

I could see the hurt
that was in her eyes
I knew she was tired
so I told her a lie

You know I love you baby
were the words I said
and I turned off the lights
and we both went to bed.

Oh my god you are my husband! Not literally, but I can so see him saying all of those things... I laughed so hard. I loved this poem, it was so funny!
