Childhood Sweetheart

Contributed by pixie on Thursday, 14th October 2004 @ 11:33:48 AM in AEST
Topic: LoveRemembered

Do you remember your childhood sweetheart?
Remember never wanting to be apart?
Spending every second, minute & hour,
Sharing a love that’s as beautiful as a flower.

Feeling low when they went on holiday,
When they were gone you had nothing much to say,
Acting like an excited puppy on their return,
No longer feeling the missing you burn.

You thought when you got older you’d get married,
Over the threshold you’d be carried,
Dream of travelling the world together,
Sharing adventures whatever the weather.

As you cast your mind gently back do you remember?
It was that frosty day in mid December,
When your love leaned in for you first kiss,
It felt to you like total childhood bliss.

Love was something that lived in our dreams,
To a child every thing is as it seems,
This was true love no doubt in your mind,
Never another companion you would find.

I to this day surely do remember mine,
He was 5, his hair blonde & he made my world shine,
Your childhood is something special for you to cherish,
The memory of you childhood sweetheart never to perish.
