Desparation

Contributed by Willofree on Wednesday, 13th October 2004 @ 05:18:37 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Going out of your way to please
Always seeking to appease
Taking blame for all that goes wrong
Totally to him do you belong

Are you a possession he controls
Or are you a person do you suppose
You say yes to all that is requested
Even in sex where you are molested

Where is your sense of dignity
You pay the price for inequity
You are never asked your opinion
For over you he has total dominion

Peace at any price has been your motto
Even over you he prefers the bottle
Physical abuse you have suffered
Things couldn't get much tougher

Is this the kind of life you sought
To always say yes to whatever you got
Only when you can say no do you begin
To win back your life and say yes again

Are you a partner or hostage taken
With all rights or privileges forsaken
To which world would you belong
To your captivity you need to say...so long

Sounds like you a strong relationship and concern for your friend who always says yes. It hurts so badly to be on the sideline watching a friend make crazy errors. You probably need to show the person love, because it seems like they probably do not know what true love is. Be that example for him/her. It doesn't sound as if they need a kick in the butt right now, but rather a touch of grace and love. Be careful that you do not push them into further insecurity. (the reason why most people get into this position as well). But, I am by no means, saying what you feel is wrong. I admire your passion against this sort of evil. Greatly emotional piece. VERY strong.

Terry ~ Your best yet ... I was looking at a forum earlier today that dealt with much the same thing. Perhaps we saw the same one ... ? This is a powerful statement and so true. For when you seek peace, by sacrifice of your choice to decide what happens to you, you sacrifice too, your freedom. I know of an author of fiction (who shares your name) that writes of this very conflict.

Again sir, Your very best to date in my opinion !!

Very moving and right on target. Many many moons ago, another lifetime it seems, I was with a very abusive and controlling man. My advice to anyone in that situation is GET OUT. Life is too short.
