Morning mist blankets the pain
That permeates the sore core.
Pervasive sky of truest blue
Allows hope to those who have none.
Washed and forgotten by the rain
Sins trail leaves into the sea.
Birds climb horizons, reach for the sun
Heedless to those who’ve been blistered and burned.
Patchworks of masterful grass
Adorn cracked and beaten dry earth
Seeping all moisture and life
From the futility that lies above.
Pretty pink petals and crafty stalks
Infest a land once forgotten
Meticulous bees bring the secrets to trees
To create the sweetest of unknown honey.
Exposed and beating—a bleeding heart
Lies at the broken center of all
Timeless in rhythm and formless in shape
Turns torture and misery into an art.

Describing the desecration of nature through natural descriptions...peculiar, to say the least. In a good sense, no less. I found the whole naturalistic pessimissm a strong theme, and consistently convincing--but then again, I think the same thing of mankind myself, and count the days before the earth shakes us off like a bad case of bug-bites. Wouldn't that be grand? The juxtaposition of the destruction of nature by natural (or rather, humanistic) forces was quite a compelling contrast, and for that I commend you.
Nicely done.
