The End And The Beginning

Contributed by Avarice_Riot on Tuesday, 12th October 2004 @ 09:09:18 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Time dies at the flight of your life on wings.
It's a bloodless path that you are slipping on
You lie prostate before yourself witnessing the dawn
A searing sun that parts its waiting lips and sings.
Will you pretend not to get lost in this last song?
Will you deny that your time left here is not long?
Everyone knows
This is the end and the beginning...

Denial dies when you finally wake from your dreaming.
The serpent in the river tries to swallow all its lies
The angel on the bank tries to pass on its last fireflies
In your last moments, no one blesses you with their weeping.
Your heart was more arctic than stone, a home for deadened eyes
As you near your fate, you taste a tear and claim your final sigh
Everyone knows
This is the end and the beginning...

Hey, been scrutinizing your page for a while and finaly you're back!! I got so excited when I saw you posted another poem. That's great! This poem is definitely a great masterpiece from you and I love it. It's a great reminder to us all to live our life to the fullest. Reminds me of a song entitled 'Our Lives' by The Calling. Great write!!

Wow. This is most definitely worth a forum of it's own. This has almost a sonnet-type structure to it, and it holds the reader locked in position throughout.

My favorite line(s):

"The serpent in the river tries to swallow all its lies
The angel on the bank tries to pass on its last fireflies"

Excellently crafted poem, and worthy of being called a masterpiece. Awesome job of conveying a deep and meaningful message in a powerful way.

Reaching the end of the beginning,
-V.S.

wow this is poetry at its best. This was
beautiful and really makes the reader search
his/her heart. I loved it all and it didn't really
strike me as dark just a straight up great
poem. Thnx for sharing this.

Sometimes, I read and am struck by the power in the words, reading it over and over again to drink in each drop . This is one of those times. Dark... yes... but full of a truth of life.
Very VERY well done

I am another who read this multiple times. You drew me in with the note at the top and held me, spellbound, for quite a while. (The note, by the way... I think I would like to have seen it in the poem... just my two cents).

Like a few others, I must say - I don't find this dark at all. Deep, yes - thought provoking, of course... but not dark. It is, simply.... truth.

Well, well done!
