Depressions Wh***

Contributed by thumper on Monday, 11th October 2004 @ 11:05:51 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Often I succomb to depression, and when I do, I just don't associate with anyone or even get on the computer. At these times, I just don't even feel worthy of company. This is my private Hell.

Deep inside the depths of Hell
In pain and misery I dwell
Knowing naught if night or day
I keep myself hidden away
Thoughts inside my head do spin
Repeating over and over again
They won't release me, let me go
I shy away from people I know
I will not drag them down with me
It won't release me, set me free.

This is my torment, it's my pain
Mental agony is where I reign
I can't escape it, I cannot flee
Tortured thoughts make a prisoner of me
I sense it coming, I try to evade
But it just keeps building day by day
One week, two weeks, three weeks, more
It's obvious, I'm depression's wh***
Each time depression calls on me
The visit lasts longer and longer, see?

Imprisioning me in it's ebon grip
With deadly talons of razor tip
The blackness creeps up ever slowly
Manipulates me. Controls me totally.
I'm locked within my mental cell
Waiting for toll of Death's bell
For end of life to comfort me
Death's gentle kiss to set me free
There'll be no torment, no more pain
And no more tears from heart will rain.

Brilliant poem, your choice of words were excellent. Don't give in to your depression, you sound much stronger than that, talk to people, don't hide away, we can't help you out of your depression if you're not here!!!!! Am I right or am I right?? Lol.

Ali xx

Sad and haunting write... It's a shame that you don't come to YPDC when you're way down, because there are people who are willing to listen and cheer you up;-).
Hugs and peace,
Hur

Amazing write! (And I don't use that word often.) This is incredibly well expressed. Any soul that has known depression will recognize it here. This is the darkness from inside out.

And I won't tell you not to succumb, I will not say to cheer up or chin up (to do so just seems silly)... nor will I tell you to reach out to others when it seems the last possible thing that you would want to do. I will say only this... depression is, to me, like a summer thunderstorm... after the rain comes, the sun always, always returns.

Hugs, thump... I am in absolute awe of this-
SNM

Thumper this is not like your usual self. The poem suggests you are going through a bad phase. Depression is something I dread. I get it every two months or so. My doc gives me some little pills that gradually take it away. The poem is great 5/5 and hugs from bernard.

Oh Thumper!
This was beautifully written, I love your poetry, every time I read it my heart cries... its beautifully tragic every time. I too feel the need to get away from people when I get depressed enough.. I do it because I get so insecure though, this was a wonderful write Thumper... keep up the writes I love reading them.

PM if you want,
.amanda.

This was very powerful... very sad. Depression is a killer, it's gotten me more times than I can say. May you find an escape, fellow poet, from its grasp.
Take care.
