Bitter pain to die, but worse to live

Contributed by girish on Monday, 11th October 2004 @ 08:40:56 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Gift to needy people, you consider worthy to dispense
All else is void of good, seeking for recompense

It`s bliss from heavenward path, yet to receive is ill
But even if it`s a stop from heavens, to give is virtue still

‘I don`t give’, is never a high-born person`s reply
He gives to those, who raise themselves, the cry

The cry of person seeking for aid, yields scant delight
Until one sees his face with grateful gladness delight

Great! are those people, who hunger`s pangs sustain
Greatest! people relieve hunger`s pangs, get a higher merit gain

Let thou relieve the wasting hunger person and endure
But thou finds, a treasure and gains the treasure-house secure

For one, whose soul delights to share with hungry men, thou`s meal
Never does the hand of hunger`s sickness wound should thy feel

To delight and gladden human heart, if one does not know
This unpitying person hoards thou`s wealth to lose it so?

Keeping the garners full for oneself and board thou spread
Will surely give greater pain to thyself than begging daily bread

Bitter pain to die, but it`s sweeter than to live
For one who finds nothing to give.
