Second Hand Roses

In a dark forbidding garden
From a long forgotten time
Overrun with brambles and
Encroaching berry vines
Hidden in the shadows
Underneath a wayward pine
Grew a little withered rose bush
I seemed predestined to find
With branches gnarled and twisted
Many leaves were brown and dry
Searching for the sunlight
They were reaching for the sky
The reason that I found it
What it was that caught my eye
Was a solitary blossom
Of a rich cabernet wine
I decided that such beauty
Should not be left here to hide
So carefully I dug it up
And prayed it wouldn’t die
I packed it back to my house
Where I found a place just right
The transplant was completed
Before day turned into night
The next day I went out and pruned
Its branches down to size
I doused it with some water
And the ground I fertilized
I tended to the ailing bush
As seasons passed us by
Uncertain if it would respond
Knowing I just had to try
It seems to me three years ago
Oh my, how time does fly
That I pulled it from the darkness
Brought it back out into light
Through careful ministration
The creator as my guide
The most beautiful of roses bloom
For anyone within sight

Naz,
It is a wonderful poem with a great theme. You asked for input ... the only thing I noticed is something you taught me on my poem Awaken. That is, a few of the lines could have dropped a word or two ... I hope you're not upset, you are a superior talent.

Such a caring gardener you are, dearest Naz. This was a beautiful write on beauty and growth, of mind and spirit... I truly love the moral of this poem. Weaver of words so divine, I thank you for this splendid poem that will forever be etched in my mind. Another enchanting piece to your plenitful collection. May the rose bush grow and embellish the world of others forever... Magnificent. I thank you once more. Eternally yours,
Votre Fleur de Sang |

This poem... I really have no words to say and describe how beautiful this poem is. It's better than beautiful, better than great, better than wonderful and better than any 'praising' adjective. I love your literary skills. It just captivates me so much. Thanks for this piece |

Gosh.
Is this about a rose bush???? or.... Love??? Whether either (or both)... it's beautiful. Maybe I'm just so mushy gushy that I find love in everything... but... it is the perfect metaphor for the growth of a relationship and the care that must be put to it to make it grow to be something beautiful. I'm curious to know if you intended it that way... I'm inclined to think you did.
I'm with Mothy - I'm too taken by this to suggest a single change.
Lovely!

I wouldn't change a single word of this, it is beautiful and mesmerizing just the way it is. Well done, I love this piece :) |

Naz this is most beautiful, I went all the way with this rose bush. In fact it could have been one of the bushes that I retrieved from a desolate house and garden some fifty odd years ago. I stole it and replanted it in my then garden as far as I know it still exsists. Wonderful writekeep em coming from bernard. |
