From such a height the air tastes of freedom.
Snow clings to my boots like a determined climber,
and the crunch of my foosteps in the snow is the music even a
talented orchestra could not re-create.
Up here, there are no other people.
No petty squabbles, polluted rivers,
meetings, trains or taxis
to scramble for.
I came here to taste freeom,
and it is rich, and crisp,
like flying.
But it is colder, much colder,
and lonelier than I had ever imagined.

A most excellent twist on what I thought might just be another "nature poem." Yes, it does get lonely at the top, which goes for more than just freedom; the political hierarchy spikes cold shivers up the paramount's spine, and it is often the most wealthy who can find no real friends.
Decidedly well put.

Wow! I REALLY like this. You've conveyed the perception of the senses and the inner feelings in a perfectly woven piece.
