Faded pale

Contributed by Hurretje on Monday, 11th October 2004 @ 03:17:38 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

No more dark and real
See the moaning Moon
Hear the shivering stars
No more this dim appeal
Feel the weeping Earth
Smell your withering scars

No longer this eternal bliss
Filled with my wicked fire
No longer this devouring kiss
Feeding my foul desire

Hold me, behold me as I fade
In the twentyfour-hour day
Give me, forgive me, dying shade
As right now, I'll have to pay

Years of ignored condemnation
Stronger than the reaping scythe of Death
I have shown such adaptation
But soon I'll bend for my last screamed breath

Buried in the pages of a book
My memory becomes faded pale
Dusted in a nanny and a crook
My history's naught but a fairy tale

Good solid poem as usual. Not quite the poetry that I really enjoy a little too dismal perhaps. The wording is good from bernard

Vampires live around us every day...maybe they even are us. I like how this can be read on two levels. Nice stuff.

This one tugs at the reader, Hurretje... and I suspect we'll all find our own meaning in it. I've read it several times, got lost somewhere inside it - and only after a long while, found my way to an exit.

Wonderfully thought provoking and beatifully crafted.... thanks for sharing this piece,
SNM

Nice! You been reading Anne Rice or something? This reminds me of that...I can imagine the images very vividly, it's dark yet ethereal. Excellent write :)

Excellent piece. The grim, dark feeling was protrayed well.

Nice bit to think on, too. Good work, my friend.
