An Echo

Silence yourself.
Don’t utter another word
Because these things you’re saying
I don’t want to be heard.
Fear, Confusion, Change
It’s funny how familiar
These all sound to me.
Yet you claimed you were different
That you actually meant those words
You so often spoke to me-
Once upon a time...
But then those words became scarce
Fewer by the day and less in meaning
Dwindling away...
A mere echo of what used to be.

don't you love how peoples comments get shorter and shorter, as if they didn't really read the poem. anyway, i unfortunately know this feeling all to well. a haunting write of how i feel about somebody i STILL love. i loved it. A+++. take care CT17 |
