He beat me
And still I stayed
He said never again
And I believed him
He lied to me
And I took every beating
He said he was sorry
And I forgave him
He told me he would kill me if I left
And I said I'd never leave
He continued to beat me everyday
And I never told a soul
He said I was ugly and no one wanted me
And I believed every word he said
He broke six of my ribs, puncturing my lung
And finally I'd had enough
He went to sleep
And I left, finally ending the abuse

This is sad....my close friend just went thru something like this...it went on for years but finally like you she got out..but only after he broke her ribs and beat her until she was unconcious in front of their 2 yr old....thank God you got out and thanks for sharing this...

Candice,
I can relate to this as I had to live with my father doing this to my Mum for many, many years.
You are so brave to have put up with such terrible, unforgivable treatment and I'm pleased to hear that you finally could find the courage to leave him! My Mum never did she waited for him to have to leave running from the cops!
I can tell from your writing of your feelings that you are a beautiful person, and I just wish nobody would listen to anyone telling them any different! But when in such a position it is so hard not to believe them!
Well done Candice with the lovely strong write and the true bravery.

Dean, I have seen it from your point of view as well. One of my mom's old boyfriends did it to her as well. But we both got out of our bad situation safely, which I am very grateful for. And both of us are detemaned to never let it happen again. And thank you for saying that I am a beautiful person. All my friends and family say this to me, but it is one of the things that I have trouble believing. Which I sure isn't very hard to believe considering all I have been through. That is another thing that I am working on.

Well it's true, from what I know so far anyway!
And I'm never wrong;-)hehe
It's hard Candice, as I struggle to believe this of me also. No that's wrong, I just plain don't believe it within myself. Even though I know all the good trusting thoughts I have for others!
Sorry I can't be of more help with this, it's just so confusing! We are not showing much trust in friends and family's opinions in not believing it about ourselves!
We must just allow ourselves to feel it, I don't know how, but we really must to live happy lives.

I know what it is like to be in an abusive situation & I'm sorry, but I'm proud of you for being so strong.
