I Was Raped

Contributed by ShadowsCloud on Thursday, 14th November 2002 @ 09:30:00 PM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

I was raped
Now I am always afraid
Looking over my shoulder forever more
Never able to trust anyone again

I was raped
And he is still out there
Constantly I wonder if he'll be back
Is he there looking for another chance to get me

I was raped
And now I am pregnant
A constant reminder of all the pain
A tiny life created in a horrible act of violence

I was raped
It's not the baby's fault
I can't get an abortion
But what about adoption

I was raped
And I can't give up the baby
It doesn't seem right
I'll keep the baby and raise it right

I was raped
And constantly I worry
Is the baby's father watching
Does he know what he created

I was raped
I'll do any thing to keep the baby safe
The little ray of sunshine of come from violence
I look forward to the baby, I'll be a good mother

I was raped
And now I'm in labor
The baby has finally arrived
A precious baby girl for me to love

I was raped
My baby girl is well loved
She'll never want for anything
My ray of sunshine born when needed most

This poem is as real as it gets - even its not you, it reflects someone else out there.

Truly, a baby is a ray of sunshine ! You've done right by her.

All the best.

There are some very difficult questions answered in here Candice,
I honestly don't know how one supposed human being can treat another with such disrespect as this!
You're right however, a baby is the most precious thing in life to be cherished forever!
It's just so saddening that so many women in this position really don't have the means to raise a child properly.
Very well written about a hard subject!

With love
Dean;-)

Dean, It is very sad how there are poeple out there how can do something like this. And like I said before most of this is not true. But I do know some one who had a baby because of a rape and even though she has to struggle both her and the baby are doing fine. Even though I have gotten pregnant because of a rape I have been raped, and I know what that feels like, it's horrible. This poem is a mixture of her and me. I do know that if I ever did get pregnant because of a rape, that there is no way I could get an abortion or give the baby up for adoption. I just know that there is no way that I could. I also wrote this poem because it is such a problem now a days, and I think that if more poeple thought about this type of thing, then just maybe I can eventually come to an end. I really hope so.
