Wish to obtain the foremost place?

Contributed by girish on Sunday, 10th October 2004 @ 09:05:36 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

To this day, the earth bears up those delving in to her breast
Such that, to bear with scornful men of virtues is the best

To forgive trespassing is good, always
But to forget them has higher praise

The painful poverty is bidding unfed guest to depart
The mightiest might is to bear with men of foolish heart

For yourself seek those honours and wish to retain
And more, have patience and guard it even more to maintain

Those who wreak their wrath are worthless and are dispensed
But those who forbear patiently are winners and prized

And those who are wreaking wrath, have pleasure for a day
But for those who bear, have praise till the earth passes away

For others vicious actions remain aloof and keep
Grieve for their sin, and for thou blessings will reap

With overwhelming pride, when those with injuries assail
By their own righteous dealing, shall thou mightily prevail

For transgressors words, these people who can endure
With patience are even as stern ascetics, pure

Though we deem great, those people who fast and suffer pain
Those who endure others bitter words, the foremost place they obtain
