When old words die out on the tongue, new melodies break forth from the heart; and where the old tracks are lost, new country is revealed with its wonders. - Gitanjali
For always roaming with a hungry heart, Much have I seen and known. - Lord Alfred Tennyson, Ulysses
Let’s go, you and I,
Under the semantic sky
And travel the roads of
creative thought…….
With thumb hoisted to the breeze,
A word, an idea starting to tease
A growing itch that screams RELEASE!!
To hitch Poems’ highway
As you can tell, I have the bug,
Not for travelling, or packs to lug
Not for sights of mountain peaks
Or revelling in cityscapes
I desire the written word,
Rhyming, lilting, serious, absurd
Prose, haiku, limerick, verse
(I know my passion is diverse)
Chemical travel is not for me,
Nor casting forth to land or sea
Between the lines I seek sensation
From thought to word to destination!!
There’s a big one now, pulling in,
An epic poem dark as sin
And there a stanza, lovely rhymes
The perfect vehicle for our times
Some we draft with growing pride,
And offer others a tempting ride
But mostly we just cadge a lift
Digits poised as we eagerly sift
So many of us, travelling the Net,
On glowing screens our focus set
Our paths criss-crossing, quick and ghosting
As we hitch a ride with each new posting
So, throw out the thumb and bum a ride,
Your talent is a shame to hide
And soon you’ll be seeing it my way,
As we travel this virtual highway.

Nice! It's an interesting concept you've explored here and effortlessly turned it into a blend of inspiration and beautiful imagery. |

*steps to the side of the road, stretches out her arm and throws up her thumb*
This is terrific! Creative, thoughtful, relatable and very simple a great read. I feel a bit silly when I pull my old, rusty VW up next to your shiny, little sportscar ---- but what the heck, so long as you like the variety... I'll keep puttering along.
Well done, Spike.... again! Gosh - I have to get to your page more often! I love your work!
Along for the ride,
SNM |

Terrific poem you witty muse,
of you to read, I gladly choose.
So well endowed with intellect,
