WHAT IS A LIE

Contributed by hoist1atca on Friday, 8th October 2004 @ 11:41:24 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

A promise often made, yet never kept-
Now from the heart a tear that has been wept-
Or a soft spoken word that once was given to me-
Filled with deceit which love was not able to see…

A memory lingering in the back of the mind-
Without substance that any one could find-
Or so time has come to make it seem…
For what we once shared was only a dream-

A gentle touch given from a warm hand-
Backed by hidden desires filled with demand-
Formed into words softly spoken and sweet-
Filling the heart with a passionate beat…

A portion of my life, not long ago in the past-
When you held my heart and my love fast-
Then you turned and quickly walked away-
And ended the game you had begun to play…

A lie is an emotion one uses to dominate-
And once it is woven it changes another’s fate-
For it will cause more damage than good-
Leaving another to feel more pain than they should …
