I Have No Time

Contributed by Aquaelius on Friday, 8th October 2004 @ 07:22:18 AM in AEST
Topic: toughstuff

I awake; these walls they have risen around me,
A moist darkness nestles beside; arms wrapped around me.
The air steals my voice; my echo has abandoned at me.
I have attempted to climb out of this prison,
my fingers grasping at the bricks, searching for holds;
my feet digging in the seams.
Yet the wall is ice.
I slide back down.
Where is my ladder of hope?
Where is my light of promise?
I have been here far too long, yet no one searches for me.
I have laid here far too long, yet no one misses me.
No one knows that I am lost.
Shall I be content, to wallow in this pool;
ripples of madness, splashes of doubt,
Waves of anger, ebbs of malcontent.
Shall I be content to dwell in this hole?
The ladder is to my left, I have yet to feel it.
The light is to my right, I have yet to see it.
The darkness keeps me here, keeps me cold.
When shall I open my eyes?

Well, this is a good, descriptive poem! I like the end, because with that you indicate that you yourself have the key to get out of your personal prison... And that's a hopeful beginning of a road out of this misery!
Enjoyable write!
Greetz,
Hur
